Acute Angling

A Brand New Destination: Pirarucú Lodge
To start 2026 we are happy to announce a new and exciting destination. Please enjoy the video below as we explore all the sportfishing opportunities the Mamirauá Reserve provides. If you have dreamed of catching monster Arapaima in its natural environment, then you are going to want to check this out.
Texas Trophy Hunters Outdoor Extravaganza
Acute Angling will be at the Texas Trophy Hunters Outdoor Extravaganza in Dallas, Texas January 9–11 at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. Stop by and visit us at booth 1841.
Join the Acute Angling Family in the “All 3” 2026 goal
In 2026 we encourage you to accept the All 3 Challenge. The goal is for our anglers to learn how to use a spinning rod, a baitcaster, and a fly rod. We want to encourage this as each equipment set up allows you to use different techniques and provides additional enjoyment for your fishing experiences in South America and on your home waters.
If you already know how to use all three, then we encourage you to pick a specific skill you don’t know or need to improve on. For example, with a baitcaster you could work on your accuracy with side arm casts or learn the skip cast. For the fly rod you could work on your double haul or a bow and arrow cast.
Just pick a skill you need to work on, find a grassy area you can visit frequently, and get out there and practice. The number one thing we encourage anglers to do before coming to South America is practice their casting. Lets make 2026 a year when we all improve and celebrate the successes of our efforts.
Species Guide Highlight: Arapaima
Keeping with the theme of our new Arapaima destination, be sure to check out our species guide for this breathing giant of the Amazon.
Happy New Year from the Acute Angling Team!
