Exploring The Zoo & Rehabilitation Center
Manaus is more than just a gateway to your next fishing adventure—it’s full of unique experiences. In this week’s vlog, we’re taking you to one of Manaus’s hidden gems: the Zoo & Rehabilitation Center.
This facility not only offers a chance to see amazing wildlife up close but also plays a vital role in rescuing and rehabilitating animals from the Amazon. Check it out!
Meet Alex: Our Director of U.S. Operations
At Acute Angling, we’re always striving to make your fishing adventures even more unforgettable. Behind the scenes, our team works hard to ensure every detail is just right.
Alex will be the Director of U.S. operations. He will be responsible for overseeing registrations, trip preparation, bookkeeping, and more. You may have already seen him on a trip this year, and he will be visiting a few of the other trips soon! If you see him, please congratulate him and welcome him to the team!

Alex & his Payara catch, caught on the Rio Aripuaña
I was raised in Middleton, Idaho and have always had a strong love for the outdoors. Everything from fishing, hunting, horseback riding, hiking, and camping has always been part of my life. I have a beautiful wife and four children and we love spending time together outdoors.
I received degrees from BYU-Idaho and Utah State University and have had the opportunity to work in different fields from oil and gas to healthcare to owning my own small business. I have worked with many companies to grow their businesses and improve their business operations, resulting in more efficient and successful companies.
Most recently I founded and ran a successful pest control company in Portland, Oregon where I have lived for the past five years with my wife and children. Owning my own business was a great opportunity to not only utilize the variety of skills I had gained from past experiences but also grow and develop new skills. I learned to genuinely care about individuals and their needs, and worked tirelessly to ensure high customer satisfaction.
This year I had the opportunity to sell my business and move on to bigger and better things. I have long admired Zach Porter and what he has accomplished with Acute Angling and am honored and excited to return to my Idaho roots and join Acute Angling and help the company grow and thrive!
